A Note from Mrs. Cureton...

.We've had a great week of learning in Cougar Nation! Today, October 3rd, all of our classes participated in Rock Your School--is a global educational initiative, where teachers create extraordinary, fun, and engaging classroom experiences to inspire students and reconnect them with their passion for learning. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of this awesome day! Next week is the end of our first 9 week grading period. Thank you for trusting us to educate and love on your amazing kids these past 9 weeks of school. We have seen so much growth, academically, and can't wait to see what all our kids accomplish these next 9 weeks of school!

Note: Staff/student holiday--no school: October 10th; student holiday--no school for students: October 13th

Student-led Conference Night:

Please make plans to join us on October 16, 2025 from 5:30pm-6:30pm. As part of our Title I Parent/School compact, we are required to give parents regular updates on student growth an performance. During student-led conference night, your student will take you through their progress so far this year and will discuss with you their academic strengths and what they need, support wise. Teachers will also be in classrooms to answer any questions and support. All parents must have a conference with student/teacher in the fall. Any parent not in attendance at this event will be required to come to school, on a day scheduled by the teacher, to discuss student progress so far this year. Your attendance on student-led conference night prevents you from having to come up to the school during the work day!

Book Fair: The book fair is coming October 14th-17th! We will have a special, late night shopping night during student-led conferences on October 16th and opportunities to shop, with a loved one, October 15-17 during lunches. See the flyer below for more details. We hope you will join us and shop the book fair!

Fall Festival:

PTA is collecting bags of individually wrapped candy for our Fall Festival! If you are able to donate a bag of candy for the festival, please send with your student to school. We will be collecting bags of candy from Monday, September 29th--Thursday, October 23rd.

Fall Festival, sponsored by PTA, will take place on Friday, October 24th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Clarkston front parking lot. This year's event will be bigger than years past and we are excited to have all of our families with us for this event! Concessions, train rides, and the dunk tank will be sold for a small cost, but trunk or treat and the games are free to all in attendance! See flyer below for more details.

Grade Level Newsletters:

All of our grade levels provide a printed, monthly newsletter to families. Our newsletters are designed to keep families informed of the learning and events happening in our classrooms each month. Please use the link here to access grade level newsletters, if you are needing an electronic copy. Click on your student's grade level in this folder to access the newsletter for your student.

Have a great weekend!
