Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
We have had a fantastic week 2 of school! We are entering into a busy time of the school year and have many fun family events coming up that we encourage all families to attend.
Please help us start the day on time by having your student at school no later than 7:50am, daily. When your student is late, they are missing valuable intervention time, as our whole campus participates in a 30 minute, focused time to help grow all of our kids in areas of need.
Staying Connected @ School:
Please make sure you are connected to your student's Class Dojo account--this gives you insight into your student's day at school. Here, you can see the points your student is earning for his/her leadership skills and hard work on campus.
We also want to make sure every parent/guardian receives campus texts from the 98900 number. If you are not currently receiving texts from the campus (you should get one at least every Friday with the campus newsletter link), please text "START" to 98900.
If you have any questions or need help with Class Dojo, receiving campus texts, or connecting with your student's teachers, please call our front office or email Mrs. Cureton. We want all of our families connected to us at Clarkston!
Specials Team Request: Families...please be mindful of shoes on days that yoru student has PE. Students should wear closed-toed, tennis shoes, on PE days for their safety. Also, please make sure girls have shorts on under their dresses/skirts. Thank you!
Kona Ice Day:
Kona Ice Day is coming Friday, September 5th! A flyer will come home soon for families to order a snocone for their student(s). More details in the flyer coming home soon!
Grandfriends' Day: Calling all grandfriends! We can't wait for you to join us during grade level lunch times for quality time & games! If you have a grandfriend that would like to attend, we encourage them to come to the front office the day before to have their license scanned for quicker entry on the day of the event! See flyer below for more details & grade level lunch times.
Open House:
Join us for Open House on Wednesday, September 17th, from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Please make plans to join us and learn more about academic expectations for all grade levels & how you can best support your student this year!
Campus Visitors:
Parents/Guardians are welcome to join their student(s) during lunch times only. Any visitors to campus must enter through the front office, have a valid ID, and obtain a visitors badge to enter the building.
Arrival Procedures:
Morning drop off is located at our cafeteria doors on Fairfax. All students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. As you pull through the car line, please have your student ready to go--this means shoes on, backpack/lunch kit/water bottles ready--this helps us get everyone through the arrival line quickly. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.
Dismissal Procedures:
Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student. Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.
Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them. Parents/guardians that are meeting walking students may meet their students at the stop sign on the corner of Pinecrest and Williamsburg Drive.
Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm). Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up. Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification. When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
Grade Level Newsletters:
All of our grade levels provide a printed, monthly newsletter to families. Our newsletters are designed to keep families informed of the learning and events happening in our classrooms each month. Please use the link here to access grade level newsletters, if you are needing an electronic copy. Click on your student's grade level in this folder to access the newsletter for your student.
Have a great weekend!
